Nature Day #2
05/11/2018
Went out hiking at South Holston Dam but took a different route this time. Was nice and quiet not a person around. As I was walking, I was thinking that it would be great to just have a sleeping bag and curl up beside the river and take a nap. Wish I had my fishing pole with me to.
I heard what I thought was a small bear cub. I kept looking around but couldn't find it there was a lot of tall marsh like grass around and the cub could have been in it. I couldn't see it. Then I walked about two mile beyond that and arrived at the end of the path. The rest was covered over with briars and brush, would have been difficult to hike much further. At that spot I heard a adult bear snort a little. I thought ok time to go home. The sound that time appeared to come from a ridge above me. So, I took the lower path for a ways. Got back to the same spot I heard the cub and once again I hear it. Not sure how far behind that adult bear was either. I really wanted to get a photo of the bear if I could find it. Maybe it was best that I didn't! Lot's of bear sightings around the area being reported on the news. I did find a cub bear paw print in some mud along with a baby dear track.
I was getting near the end of the path all of sudden I see a huge flock of geese with several sets of family's and babies. They where very near the path I needed to go through to get back to my truck. Ok baby geese and angry mom's! Stepping slowly and trying to show them I was not going to approach the babies I stayed as far to the right of the path as I could to get past them. When I finally made it back to the parking lot where my truck was it was a big relief. I was stuck between bears, geese, rock, lake and a path that was blocked. It was like a mini adventure. There was a sign warning of private property but that stated there was log cabins for rent. It would be great if I could stay in a cabin near there for about a month.
Of course some pictures below. Ton's of pictures on my flickr page TN AmyH.

Looks Like A Painting To Me |
I remember a video in which Rachel (from Rachel and Jun on YouTube) showed an app that could be used to identify things found in nature.
