Racing To Get The Covid Vaccine

Racing To Get The Covid Vaccine Shot

02/02/2021

Phase 1 covid vaccinations had started in January for our area.  My Dad, Stepmom, and Mom all got their shots.  The first shot in January then the second shot on January 26 for Dad and Stepmom.  Then mom got her second shot on January 29.   My parents are all vaccinated.

The vaccinations was given at the Bristol International Dragway.  Cars lined up to go through the big parking area's.   The line formed on highway 394 to get to the entrance to Bristol International Dragway. The line behind us went as far as I could see.    The dragway opened at 9:00 a.m.   Me and mom got up at 6:30 a.m. and started on our way at 7:30 a.m.  I drove mom to get her shots.  When we got there the line was already formed with about a hundred of cars ahead of us.    We thought we would be near the front of the line.  But, no we were not. About 10:30 we finally reached the area where the shots where being given.   All total about 4 hours to get in then a wait time after the shot before we could head back home.

Here is a picture where some of the cars where sitting at pole position and we were lined up behind them.  LOL, it was like a race but very slow.

Mom done very well with her first and second shot.  When she received her second shot she was told she might have some flu symptoms and a sore arm.   She hasn't had either one.  But, she as usual has a little bit of sinus allergy.  She has had those for a few years now.

Most vaccination area's have been held at large stadiums or in our case "The Last Coliseum"  Bristol International Raceway/Dragway.   Every morning the same amount or more line up for their vaccinations.   I still haven't had mine because its not my age group.  I'm sure soon it will be my turn to get the vaccination.

Here is some more pictures as we drove up to vaccination area.

Lining Up To Wait 15 Minutes After Shot To Make Sure Mom Is Ok Before Going Home.

Now we are both thinking about a race to the toilet because we have been waiting 4 hours.  The last 15 minutes seams like the longest.

Today is mom's birthday 83 years old and vaccinated against covid.  Happy Birthday Mom.
