Little Bit Of Everything
08/20/2018
I haven't posted in a while so this post will have a little bit of everything since last post. Ok, since the post actually posted before I added a little bit of everything your probably thinking there wasn't anything! I will admit that there wasn't a lot but yes I have things to post about. So, in edit mode now and actually trying to post a little bit of everything. From beautiful morning glories, river runs, giant Idaho Potato sighting tide on the back of 18 wheeler flat bed and even Bristol Nascar races. And if that isn't enough a birthday party. Of course photography and a few sketches.
The morning glory vines continue to climb and wrap around my back porch. Every morning I go out to find a new morning glory in bloom. Now starting to see some of the earlier vines starting to show signs of fading away as fall season approaches with a couple of vines still striving to climb upward.
Cucumbers produced so many that bags and bags full was shared with anyone who would take them. To many tiny red and yellow salad tomatoes to count. The hybrid beef stake tomato plant produced a few good slicing size that was perfect for hamburgers. More of those growing and slowly ripening on the vine. A handful of carrots was enjoyed one morning as I pulled them out of the ground washed them off grabbed some ranch dressing. Yep carrots for breakfast.
I forgot to mention a deer I seen on the way to the top of the dam. The sign even said stop and that's exactly what I did in the middle of the road. I got a few photo's of the young buck. Luckily there wasn't any cars when I stopped there but a few came up behind wondering why I was stopped there I'm sure. But, they finally just drove around me.

Giant Idaho Potato
Since I'm talking about gardening you wouldn't believe what I seen at the local Food City store. The biggest ever Idaho Potato tied down with chains on the back of a huge 18 wheeler pulling a flat bed. I mean it was huge! I would have to say it must have broke every world record for the largest spud! I'm a pretty big person but I looked like a small fry standing beside that huge potato.Giant Idaho Potato |

Bristol Nascar Races
It's August and that means racing in my area. The Bristol Motor Speedway sponsors the famed Food City 500 races and this year the Bass Pro Nascar Races. We didn't have a Bass Pro in this area but we do now in the newly built Pinnacle Shopping Center. One morning I got up went out to get breakfast at McDonald's and decided to drive over to the Bass Pro to see what was going on there. They where setting up for the parade of Nascar 18 wheeler's that drives through town before the start of the races. While I was there I registered with Toyota took a test drive in a Tacoma that I can never afford but doing so scored me a 10 gift card for Bass Pro actually I got two gift cars another one for 5 dollars. That was pretty cool because I never thought that day I would end up getting free gift cards. Went inside to see if any more "freebies" where available inside the store. Signed up for their credit card got a bass pro hat and another 25 dollars free on the credit card. So, I scored $40.00 in free money and a pretty nice hat that fit.
I was tired because the night before I hadn't slept but I decided after that to go over to the race track and see what was going on around there. I didn't attend the actual race but still enjoyed the activity around what they call "track side area". After paying 10 dollars to park which I found to be a bit high I walked over across the street. The street and all around the racing arena was full of vendors. I registered again with Toyota sponsors and got a free cooler bag. It's quiet nice actually and I was needing one for when I go out riding around. I think that covered the 10 dollars spent for parking. I registered to win an Indian motorcycle and a grill. Enjoyed walking around. One funny thing about registering for the grill is it was sponsored by copenhagen the making of skoal. As I registered and my drivers license verified my age I was presented with my very own free can of skoal....LOL of course I don't dip skoal. Felt a little ackward about that. Hey, it was for a free shot at the BBQ grill so worth it. Got another small round can that look like another skoal can but it was actually BBQ spices. It was cute. I have not tried it yet. No, I haven't heard anything about the drawing for the Indian Motor Cycle or the BBQ grill. Who knows maybe I get a call and win...Trying to be positive. I would need lessons on how to drive the motorcycle but definitely would drive it.
Here's some pictures ........................
A lot of race pictures. Another cool thing about it is I got to see the trophy's up close that the race car drivers won at the end of the races. I watched the races on my Amazon Fire TV stick. Other wise I wouldn't have been able to watch on my regular tv channels. Before you ask.....NO! I did not drink but there is most definitely plenty to drink during the races. Some have referred to it as a "booze fest". I did think about how my grandfather used to make moonshine back in his day.
Birthday Party
I won't say to much about the birthday party as the post is most likely one of the largest ones I have done. My nephew Holden turned one year old. He is cute as can be. The family gathered for a cook in because of the rain. Grill was lugged up on the front porch. Of course the usual birthday activities.
Cows vs Canadian Geese
One morning I was awaken by the neighbors cows mooing and looked out my back door to see a large flock of geese that had invaded the cows pasture. At first the cows appeared to be a little afraid of the geese as they hovered in the upper part of the pasture away from them. Then one brave mother cow decided she had enough of them and charged after the geese. Here's a video if I can get it to load. Oops the file size is to big for this blog to accept. But here's a link to my face book page where it did upload for those interested. Face Book Link Of Video.
