4th of July Holiday
2018
This whole week the temps have been in the 90's difficult to do very much outside. Even though it was so hot was still able to enjoy the holiday. My sister has a birthday this month and me and mom took her, Kenny and David out to Golden Corral in Kingsport. Had a nice time visiting with them and then spent some time at her house. She has an awesome flower garden.
That night being the 4th of July my neighbors set off some beautiful fireworks. My house being perfectly in the center. No need to fight the crowds at local fireworks display. I enjoyed the same type of display if not better than that. They had the really big fireworks complete with sonic booms. I tried my new camera to take pictures of some of those again difficult to take pictures at night for me anyway. I might have gotten a few will have to check my camera. If I find some will post below or in a separate post.
I wanted to go to some concerts but I didn't get around to doing it. Mostly because of the hot weather and the concerts where held outside. Might take a another trip up to Roan Mountain to try and find a bear. I have wanted to get a picture of a bear all summer.
The next day after visiting with my sister Peggy I had another sister come to visit. Not my blood relative but a (Sister) Catholic Nun from South Dakota. Her along with several friends I met on Second Life. We went to Appalachian Caverns and then out to eat.
Got a few picture inside the caves but it was of course dark in there so it made it difficult for picture taking. It was an adventure as Sister said. It was extremely hot in the building above the cave entrance. Once inside the cave it cooled down quite a bit. It kinda spiraled downward with metal hand rails and concrete walk way. Very slippery in spots. We grasp the rails walked sideways to try to prevent sliding. The hand rails was dripping with moisture from the cave and was slippery also. One of my friends who was in a wheel chair probably had more of adventure than us. Maneuvering the steep downward sloping ramps with her daughter at her side helping to guide her. Now that's called four wheeling. I know it was difficult for them but they made it through. We are a tough bunch when we set our mind to do something we just do it. Was a little difficult on the way up more so then when we went down. But, with the help of the guides we made it back up and out.
There was a rock climbing wall outside that you could pay to climb. I might have made half way up but I really didn't give that a try. I did go up a few notches just for fun and picture taking. They took a picture but I don't have one. Maybe they will share it with me later to post her so you can laugh about it. Spent almost a full day with my friends. Enjoying conversation and dinner.
Here some pictures..........Didn't take pictures of my sister and her family didn't want to lug my bulky camera into the restaurant so no pictures of that.
