Visit To Wilbur Dam
06/23/2018 Saturday
This week end myself and my mom decided to get out and about. We started our day at McDonald's with a big breakfast. Sat on the front porch, ate our breakfast and enjoyed each others company. Then we took a trip to see Wilbur Dam in Elizabethan. I don't recall ever going to Wilbur Dam in the past and mom hadn't either. It's a small dam but very beautiful just the same. The water looked very clear. Nice fishing area even accessible to the disabled, wheel chair ramp down to the river edge nicely concreted and even an wheel chair accessible port-a-potty. OK so whats the big deal.....I have never seen a wheel chair accessible port-a-potty. Glad they have them. LOL It's very nice a good place to take family and friends. Including Watagua Dam that was above Wilbur Dam and reservoir.
I enjoyed the simple conversation with my mom and the fresh clean air. The roaring of the water coming over the dam and air blowing my hair. Of course I took pictures I always do. I'm sure some get tired of my pictures. It's what I enjoy and I don't claim to be a professional photographer. Simple times that are relaxing and a joy to have in an over whelmed world. Few and far between and times to remember. Plus its a shame to live in this area and never see whats around here. I do live in a beautiful area.
Trying to do more with mom and planing on doing something every week end even if its just a simple drive around it helps us to clear our mind and renew our spirits.
Seen some rock pigeons nesting around the dam and people kayaking. The flood gates where raised opening up three more spill ways. Wilbur dam was built in 1909 and is surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest / Appalachian Mountains.
Here's some pictures of my considered by some "boring day". That I enjoyed.
